Neuro Living Well Programme

Our Neuro Living Well programme

Being diagnosed with a life limiting Neurological/Neuro-Muscular illness can leave you feeling isolated. Our Neuro Living Well Programme aims to equip you with some tips and techniques to help you live well with your illness.

Through a structured 6 week programme, with a themed session each week, the Neuro Living Well programme will provide you with the opportunity to ask questions and learn where to access information, as well as socialising and being part of a supportive hospice community. Each week there will also be the opportunity for a 'cuppa and chat' during the session, enabling you to discuss what's on your mind or just connect with others in the group in a relaxed environment.

Carers' café

There will be a space reserved in the Hospice Sanctuary for a 'Carers' Café', for carers to enjoy tea and cake, have an opportunity to talk with our hospice staff, connect with other carers and enjoy some quiet time.

Session content

Week 1: Welcome & Fatigue Management - Advice from Hospice Occupational Therapist

Week 3: Breathlessness Management - Advice from Hospice Physiotherapist
Week 4: 'What’s important to me' - Discussions with Spiritual Care team lead

"I attended the Neuro Living Well 6 week course. It was good to be able to meet with other people with similar but varied versions of Neurological problems. We were treated very gently and with a lot of recognition of our limits in communication and physicality. The 6 weeks offered thoughts and suggestions on a number of issues related to our symptoms and circumstances."

"When we started going to the Hospice, we suddenly didn't feel so alone. It's opened so many doors for us. It's having someone you can trust. We felt that we'd turned a corner when the Hospice got in touch, it changed so much for us."
