This 3 hour communication skills workshop provides an opportunity for anyone working in health and social care in a non-clinical role (for example receptionists and non-clinical managers) to develop their knowledge, confidence and skills in this area.
Course content
- Recognising potential sources of distress in people experiencing loss and change related to significant illness and how that impacts on individuals and their families.
- Exploring how professionals can respond in ways that may be helpful or unhelpful to people in distress.
- Identifying communication strategies and skills that can support people experiencing strong emotions.
- Developing personal knowledge and skills to enable you to feel more confident when handling difficult and challenging conversations.
