Ahead of the event
What are the wave start times for each route?

- 100k (8-8.30am)
- 100k 8.30-9am)
- 100k (9-9.30am)
- 65k (9.30-10am)
- 65k (10-10.30am)
- 40k (10.30-11am)
Can I take part on an electric bike?
Yes, you're welcome to take part on an e-bike; trikes and tandems are also permitted in the Tour.
What is the minimum age to take part?
The minimum age to take part in Tour de Bristol is 14 years old. All 14-17 year olds must be accompanied by a participating adult at all times.
What if I want to change distance?
If you wish to change distance, then please contact us on tour.debristol@stpetershospice.org and we can organise this for you. You may have to pay an additional fee if you are switching to a longer route.
You are also able to change distances on the day, but we encourage you to do this in advance wherever possible.
Are the routes an exact distance?
Whilst we have done our very best to make the routes as close to 40, 65 and 100km they may vary slightly due to the nature of the country roads and wanting to make the routes as enjoyable as possible.
Our 100km is closer to 105km; we're doing our very best to bring this down slightly but wouldn't want it to drop down below the 100km mark so are limited in the changes we can make.
Can I take part in a team?
Absolutely! We love teams taking part in Tour de Bristol; the easiest way to do this is to sign up individually and add in your team's name so we know who's taking part together (make sure you're all agreed on the spelling!). Why not add a little competition by seeing who in your team can fundraise the most?
When will I receive my event pack?
Your event pack, which will include your rider number, reusable zip ties and any jersey purchased in advance will arrive a couple of weeks before the event. If you sign up within the last two weeks your pack will be ready to collect on the day.
My event pack hasn't arrived?
If your pack hasn't arrived in time for the ride, please don't worry, you should receive all the information you need for the day by email, and we'll have spare rider numbers available at the registration desk.
On the day
Is there parking available?
Limited parking is available at UWE via the North Entrance. UWE have kindly waived their parking fees and ask for a donation to the Hospice instead, there will be volunteers with collection buckets. Parking is limited so please cycle to the venue, get dropped off, or lift share wherever possible.
Will there be food or drink available?
Before you start…
There will be hot drinks available to purchase at UWE before the ride begins.
On the route…
There will be at least one feed station on each route where you can take a break and refuel with snacks, fresh fruit and water. If you have particular snacks you like to refuel with we'd recommend packing some just in case.
At the finish…
From midday there will be hot food available to purchase when back at UWE. There'll also be a bar serving refreshments so you can quench your thirst and relax after completing your challenge!
Is there a cut off time for me to complete my chosen distance?
Make sure to pass over the timing mat at the start and again at the finish when you return, so we know you are back safely. If you leave the course early and won[t be returning, inform a marshal or other official of your rider number. You must complete the course by 5pm. Although you will be given a finish time, it is NOT a race.
What kit do I need for the day?
- Rider number: In your pack is your rider number with timing chip. Fill in your details on the back, including any medical conditions, and attach it to your handlebars so it's visible and clear. If you're on a tandem, please attach both rider numbers to the handlebars.
- Helmet: Safety-approved cycling helmets are compulsory, and we recommend complying with ANSI Z90/4 or SNELL standards. Any rider not wearing a helmet will be excluded.
- Comfortable gear: wear layers and be prepared for all weather - sun cream and waterproofs!
- Basic repair kit: mechanics are available throughout the event but bring some basic tools and a spare inner tube to fix common issues and get back on the road.
- Mobile phone: fully charged, and make sure we have your phone number
- Food and water: bring two water bottles and sufficient food for energy. The feed stations are for extra snacks and are not to be relied on for all food for the day. There will be stuffed pittas available to purchase at the finish.
- Some cash and a debit card: to donate for parking and to purchase any food and drink at UWE (card only).
- Route map: you'll be given a map on the day, keep it with you as it will have emergency phone numbers on. You can also download the routes from plotaroute.com onto a Garmin, find them on our route page.
Is there anywhere I can leave my personal belongings?
We do not have a bag drop and take no responsibility for any personal belongings. Everything you bring along will need to be carried for the whole event or locked in your car.
