This Volunteers' Week we wanted to share the experience of Emma, our Yate shop manager, who has worked with volunteers at the Hospice for the last 10 years.

"Our volunteers have such pride in the shop and are so motivated for it to be successful," says Emma. "It's truly a community endeavour, they are a huge part of our success."

It's the dedication of our retail volunteers which help our 43 shops to stay open and continue to raise essential funds for the Hospice. Over 50 volunteers make up the team at our Yate shop, some of whom have been with the shop since it opened. Emma says: "They all bring their own personalities, stories and skills to the Hospice which is what makes them such a great team to work with."

Yate also has many younger volunteers often completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Emma explains: "They bring a new dimension to the team, they're a big help at the end of the day and on weekends. They often help with window displays and posts for our Instagram – there's a role to suit everyone here."

Emma's favourite thing about working with volunteers is that they give their time for free and have such enthusiasm and commitment to the Hospice.
