Meet the Retail Team

Our Retail Team have a wealth of experience from both charity and mainstream retail. They are passionate about using their skills and creativity to generate income to support patient care.

John Broomhead - Retail Director

John Broomhead

As Retail Director I lead a truly fantastic retail team covering stores, eBay, house clearance, furniture collection, new goods and gift aid. It is so rewarding knowing that our hard work goes towards financially supporting our amazing clinical teams to offer incredible patient care in communities across Bristol.

When I am not at work I love cycling , golf, walking and socialising with family and friends at every opportunity! Dinner parties, BBQ's and a glass of something are a weekend must and I always feel better when I have a holiday to look forward to!

Caroline Jenkins – Area Manager, Central Area

Caroline Jenkins

As Area Manager it is a privilege to work with a fantastic group of dedicated Shop Managers and their teams.

I joined the hospice in 2022 having begun my career in retail management working for the popular high street chain Waterstones and then taking up a role as Area Manager with Wesley Owen Books & Music before moving across to work in the charity retail sector around 10 years ago.

Outside of work I enjoy sampling new restaurants and wine tasting, supporting my local church and reading. As with all good retailers I can be quite competitive and I satisfy this side with the odd quiz, games evening and following my favourite sports teams. In short if it's red I will probably love it: Wales, Liverpool, Bristol City, wine and a good book.

James Horseman - Area Support Manager, Central Area

James Horseman

Hi, I'm James and I've been working for St Peter's Hospice since 2019. As the Area Support for the Central shops, I get to work with our fantastic retail teams across Bristol who raise funds the Hospice.

I've worked in mainstream retail my entire working life in a variety of different roles but my role within St Peter's is by far my favourite! Working somewhere and knowing that we are helping to make a difference to people across Bristol and supporting patients and their families provides great job satisfaction.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my two young daughters, my partner and our families. We're often out and about helping the kids explore new places and they love nothing more than a simple walk on the beach or climbing trees at Leigh Woods.

Duncan Mather – Area Manager, South Area

Duncan Mather

Hi there, I'm Duncan and joined St Peter's in 2024. It has been a fantastic welcome to a wonderful Hospice supporting the greater Bristol area.

My previous roles include a decade with River Island, commercial roles in M&S, large shop management with Arcadia, before moving into a field role, with Tie Rack and Menkind. I moved into charity retail in 2021 and my previous role was Head of Retail with Cards for Good Causes.

I have 14 wonderful shops in the South Area, a mix of traditional, super fashion in the city centre, gorgeous boutique in Clifton village and even vintage in Portishead. My mission is simple; to make them the very best version of what a modern charity shop should be.

Outside of work I may have fallen head of heels for my mini Daschund, Bear who I spend a lot of time with. I love to bake, cook and create wonderful gluten free goodies in the kitchen and twice a year I love returning to my second home in Egypt for some sun, sea and reading.

Paige Martin - Area Support Manager, South Area

Paige Martin

Hello! I'm Paige, I'm the Area Support for the South stores. I've been with the Hospice for just over 12 years, where I have had a range of roles from sales assistant to training manager. My current role is incredibly varied and every day is different, which I absolutely love! Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with my family and enjoy baking.

Samantha Little – Area Manager, North Area

Samantha Little

Hello I'm Samantha, North Area Manager for St Peter's Hospice. I joined in 2023 and feel so privileged to be part of this amazing charity and work within a fantastic team of people. I have worked previously in mainstream high street retail for many years and having moved across to the charity sector, I have found my current role within St Peter's to be the most rewarding of my career.

Outside of work I enjoy walking my dogs and spending time with my family and friends. I also like to keep fit by going to the gym and running each morning but this is a must, as I really enjoy eating out and trying new restaurants.

Amy Dudley - Area Support Manager, North Area

Amy Dudley

Hello, I'm Amy and I am Area Support/Mobile Manager for the North stores. I started working for St Peter's Hospice in 2009. I absolutely love my job and I work with such an amazing team of people, staff and volunteers.  In my spare time I enjoy pottery, playing skittles and playing board games.

Amy White - Commercial Manager

Amy White

Hello, I'm Amy the Commercial Manager. In my team we are responsible for purchasing New Goods and Christmas Cards that we sell in our charity shops and our online shop. I have been fortunate enough to work in the charity sector for over 20 years and joined St Peter's Hospice in 2021. I had always admired the Hospice and now feel extremely proud to be part of the team.

The best bit of my role is that I have every excuse to talk all things Christmas 365 days of the year. We are busy all year planning for Christmas and finalising Christmas Card designs in February!

Outside of work, you'll see me with my family, friends, enjoying holidays and walks along the beach when possible!

Jo Hart - New Goods Administrator

Jo Hart

Hi, I'm Jo and my role at St Peter's is to assist all of our shops with the admin side of things as well as New Goods. I really enjoy my job, the best bit is choosing our Christmas Cards!

Outside of work I am a busy mum of four children and two dogs. I would have more dogs but my husband thinks our home is busy enough.

My passion in life is football, Bristol Rovers are my team. I went to my first game when I was 6 weeks old swaddled in my dad's coat.

When I win the lottery I will be found in Greece, on a large farm with all sorts of animals, dogs, cats, goats and even a few snakes!

Sally McCleary - Marketplace Operations and Development Manager

Sally McCleary

Hi, I am Sally, the Marketplace Operations and Development Manager for St Peter's Hospice. I manage our ebay, Depop and Trade In sites for the Hospice.

In my downtime, I love to spend time with my family in Bristol and in Ireland. I enjoy camping, baking and fussing over our two dogs, Murphy and Buster.

Luisa Partridge - Retail Logistics Manager

Luisa Partridge

Hi, my name is Luisa, I am the Retail Logistics Manager and I joined the Hospice in 2017.

Within my role I manage our Avonmouth Warehouse, Logistics Team, House Clearance business and Furniture outlets. I love that I get to work with so many people within the organisation and meet lots of people in the community who have personal connections with the Hospice.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with friends and family, being by the coast and listening to music.

Susan McLeod - Retail Operations Manager

Susan McLeod

Hi, I'm Susan and I'm proud to have worked in various roles for the Hospice for 15 years now, and for the last few as Retail Operations Manager.  Our shops are fabulous and the teams work so hard to make them stand out on the high street – which of course keeps me nice and busy!

Outside of work, I like to catch up with my family and friends who are in various parts of the UK which is a good excuse for a city-break.

Louisa Merchant-Locke - Retail Trainer

Louisa Merchant-Locke

I became the Retail Trainer for the Hospice in July 2024, and previously I was an Area Manager for the Super South, which I had done for almost 9 years. I am really passionate about continuous improvement and charity retail, so to be able to combine the two, is a perfect role for me!  This role has been created to support our retail staff with their specific training needs but also to look at breaking down barriers and challenges with learning, and to help upskill people to be the best they can be!  I love the variety I have had (with both roles), and the opportunity to work with such a caring and inspirational group of people every day.

Outside of work, I am usually found with my animals - two gorgeous house rabbits, a snow dog, a number of stray cats and a python (or a large glass of Chardonnay, which I also adore). I love travelling and trying to tick off as many countries and challenges as I can, while I can! Other addictions include shoes, films, quizzes, dancing, painting and socialising with our amazing neighbours in our garden pub - The Locke Inn, that we built during lockdown.
