Richard Pedwell

1970 - 2024

Richard was sadly diagnosed with a grade 4 Glioblastoma on August the 4th 2022.He was given 12mths to live. He showed immense bravery and strength and had an awake craniotomy in September 2022 followed by radiotherapy and 12mths of Chemotherapy.Unfortunately the tumour re grew and on the 16th Feb 2024 he had a second awake crainiotomy but unfortunately the tumour re grew and in June Richard was given the devastating news that all treatment would be stopped and there was nothing more that could be done.Richard showed such strength and was still enjoying life with his two daughters, his dog and his sisters and mum who he all adored and loved.Richard was admitted to St Peters hospice for palliative care on the 23rd of August and stayed there until he passed away peacefully on the 26th September 2024.During this time the care he received from the team was absolutely exceptional. The staff were so supportive and we were grateful for all the cups of tea we had as a family.
Richard is an amazing kind funny husband and dad who idolised his daughters Ruby and Lily and he was so proud of them. He also loved his lovely dog Teddy who was his best friend.Richard worked for Airbus for 36 years and made some fabulous friendships.Richard was also devoted to his friends who continued to visit him when he was poorly and he really appreciated their support. As a family we could not have got through this challenging time if we hadn't the support of his two older sisters Kim and Martine and their partners Hugh and Peter and the love of Richards mum. I would like to raise money for a much needed cuddle bed that would mean families could cuddle together and feel closer together during a difficult time.If you would like to donate to this worth while cause we would be extremely grateful as families would really benefit.

A stranger to me, but read of this brave man online and the cuddlebed appeal in his memory. St Peters cared for my brother Len until he quietly passed away 15th February 2023. My brother loved cuddles. A small contribution in his memory.
