Shops Stories

We are very excited that our Westbury Park charity shop has been shortlisted for The UK's Favourite Charity Shop Award!

The competition was inundated with nearly 6,500 nominations for charity shops when it launched earlier this summer as part of the Charity Retail Association's 25th Anniversary celebrations. We are honoured to have been shortlisted - a huge congratulations to our fantastic team at Westbury Park.

We had some amazing feedback from our nominees including "An eye-catching window display entices you in and friendly staff are always available to help. The shop is well organised and creatively arranged to make it unique. I will pop in for a browse whenever I can."

Robin Osterley, Chief Executive of the Charity Retail Association said:
"Through people sharing in their own words what charity shops mean to them, we have seen some recurring themes that have come up again and again and highlight why charity shops remain so popular in a rapidly changing retail landscape. It’s about the friendliness of staff and volunteers; the warm welcome people get when they walk through the door; the sense of community and inclusivity charity shops provide; the massive contribution to sustainable shopping; and the dedication and pride in presentation and variety."

Now, members of the public are being asked to vote for their favourite UK charity shop from a shortlist of six in each of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the English regions. We'd love it if you could vote for St Peter's Hospice in the South West region online before midnight on Monday 23 September. On the form, you'll need to scroll through the other UK regions to get to the South West area and cast your vote.
