We recently welcomed a group of women from the Bangladeshi community in Bristol, to find out more about the Hospice and what we offer.
The group were really interested in our Living Well programme following a chat with Rachael, our Day Services Manager. She explained that the programme helps patients with how to live well with a serious illness. She talked through the various courses we offer, which cover coping with everyday things such as sleeping, moving, talking, eating, planning and generally feeling as well as possible whist dealing with a condition.
We also talked about the support that our Social Work team can give to families, such as making plans for the future, accessing help at home and welfare benefits.
During a tasty homemade lunch which the women kindly brought to share with us, we talked about what they thought of the Hospice having visited for the first time. We also discussed how it could benefit their community to know about the services that we offer.
"I never seen something like this before - it's something different for me" said Sultana.
"I wasn't sure what to expect but I think the facility is brilliant" said Millie. "The Living Well programme is great for patients to link up with others, especially those who share a similar condition."
