Did you know that we have a department dedicated entirely to training other healthcare professionals in the various elements of end-of-life care?
Our Education team has been going for over 30 years and is well respected both locally and regionally. The team equips our healthcare partners with the knowledge and skills they need to care with confidence.
As part of this, we often offer student placements. In the past year, we've had students who are studying all sorts of things from nursing, physiotherapy and theology. They come and spend time in the different departments we cover, learning about the Hospice and the care we give to patients and their families.
This August, we welcomed two student paramedics, Drew and Rowena. They went out in the community with our Hospice at Home team, attended some Day Services sessions, and spent time on the Inpatient Unit, with the Advice Line team, and with our Social Workers.
Paramedic Drew said, "it was excellent, very prepared and I learnt more than I could have imagined. It would really benefit students to complete this placement."
The placement was made possible through a partnership with Health Education England, UWE and the Devon Training Hub. If you're a healthcare provider or student and want to find out more about what we offer, visit our Learning and Development pages.
