Introducing our new Chief Executive Officer, Susan Hamilton

04 Apr 2024

Employee Stories

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Susan Hamilton, following the retirement of our previous Chief Executive Officer. Susan brings to the Hospice a wealth of relevant experience from her various senior roles within the healthcare sector. She will lead the organisation's crucial work caring for adults with incurable diseases, as well as supporting family members and loved ones through bereavement.

Prior to joining the Hospice, Susan was Director of Public Health at North Northamptonshire Council. She's also a non-executive director, currently sitting on the Boards of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston, and Taff Housing. A Bristol local, Susan has been aware of the important work of the Hospice for many years.

Susan says: "Throughout my career, I've been passionate about improving the quality of care and reducing health inequalities, working closely with local communities and organisations. It's a privilege to be able to continue this work at St Peter's Hospice and I look forward to leading this exceptional charity."

Susan joins the Hospice at a time when there's growing demand on our services, coupled with ever rising costs. Her 20 plus years in senior positions in the NHS, local Government, and charity sector make her the perfect person to steer the organisation into its next chapter.

Helen Morgan, Chair of our Board of Trustees, said: "We're delighted to welcome Susan into the role of CEO at the Hospice. Susan's extensive career in the healthcare and charity sectors means she is perfectly placed to lead our exceptional teams, help us navigate the challenges ahead and ensure we continue to provide the excellent care the Hospice is known for."
